Markey Organ Scholarships in New Jersey. (Competitions and Scholarships).


The George George, river, c.345 mi (560 km) long, rising in a lake on the Quebec-Labrador boundary, E Canada. It flows N through Indian Lake (125 sq mi/324 sq km) to Ungava Bay (an arm of Hudson Strait).  Markey Markey is the surname of the following American politicians:

 Memorial Pipe Organ Encounter Scholarships, sponsored by the Metropolitan New Jersey Chapter of the American Guild of Organists The American Guild of Organists, or AGO, is a national organization of academic, church, and concert organists in the USA, headquartered in New York City. It was founded in 1896 as both an educational and service organization. , are accepting applications for both collegiate col·le·giate

George Boone George Boone was the grandfather of the famous pioneer Daniel Boone and his brother Squire Boone, Jr., and the father of Squire Boone, Sr. He and the rest of his family sailed to America from Bradninch, England on August 17, 1717.  Markey, a graduate of the Curtis Institute, was a professor at Westminster Choir College -- Westminster Choir College is a residential college of music located in Princeton, New Jersey, United States.

Westminster has a choral emphasis that educates men and women at the undergraduate and graduate levels for music leadership careers in churches, schools,
 in Princeton. He was a renowned organist who toured widely.

All applicants must be residents of New Jersey. College applicants can be enrolled at any institution in the world, or study in New Jersey, and must be college freshmen or sophomore organ students. High school applicants must currently study piano and/or organ.

At the collegiate level, three awards will be presented for first, second and third place worth $1,000, $600 and $400, respectively. For the high school level, two scholarships will be presented in the amount of $350 each toward a Pipe Organ Encounter event of the winners' choosing.

Applicants must submit a completed entry form, tape of required pieces as listed on the application form and a letter of recommendation. For the collegiate level, a personal essay also is required. The deadline for collegiate applications is February 14, 2003, with notification given to the four finalists March 14, 2003. The deadline for high school applications is March 17, 2003, with notification given to the winners April 30, 2003.
