Mark Ray.


Mark Ray, 44, immediate past president of the European Piano Teachers Association and the head of the school of keyboard studies at Manchester College, died in a drowning accident while in Nevada City, Nevada Nevada City is a ghost town in Churchill County, Nevada, United States. , as a visiting professor for the Gold Country Piano Institute.

Ray also was the chair of the EPTA EPTA European Piano Teachers Association (UK)
EPTA European Parliamentary Technology Assessment
EPTA European Pultrusion Technology Association
EPTA European Power Tool Association (Frankfurt, Germany) 
 Management Committee and sub-editor of Piano Professionals. He was born in 1962 and studied at the Royal Northern College of Music The roots of the college begin in the late 19th Century with Sir Charles Hallé's Royal Manchester College of Music. In 1973, the Royal Manchester College of Music and the Northern School of Music merged to create the modern-day RNCM.  and the University of Manchester The University of Manchester is a university located in Manchester, England. With over 40,000 students studying 500 academic programmes, more than 10,000 staff and an annual income of nearly £600 million it is the largest single-site University in the United Kingdom and receives , winning prizes at both institutions, followed by postgraduate studies at the Salzburg Mozarteum. He performed as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Britain and Europe, and worked as a staff pianist at Dartington International Summer School and the Lake District Summer Music.

Ray's performing interests included contemporary repertoire and piano trio, quartet and quintet repertoire. He gave master classes in Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand, Australia and Norway.
