Mark Nachbar Named Managing Director of the State and Local Tax Group of American Express Tax and Business Services Inc.

CHICAGO -- American Express Tax and Business Services Inc. is pleased to announce that Mark L. Nachbar, CPA, JD, has joined the company as Managing Director of the State and Local Tax Group. Previously, he was a partner in Deloitte's State and Local Tax Group in Chicago.

"Mark brings to our organization over 20 years of experience in assisting diverse industries with complex multistate tax issues," said Mendel Nudelman, Executive Managing Director of American Express Tax and Business Services. "State and local taxes are becoming an increasingly larger share of a corporation's overall tax liability, and we believe that Mark's background and credentials strengthen our position to assist clients in this critical area," Nudelman added.

As Managing Director of the State and Local Tax Group, Nachbar will oversee a group of professionals delivering a broad array of services designed to help companies better manage their multistate tax matters, including income taxes, sales and use taxes, property taxes, tax credits and incentives, unclaimed property taxes, compliance and tax controversies with state and local agencies.

Nachbar has served companies in a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, retailing, distribution, financial services, telecommunications, transportation and media. He is a frequent speaker on state and local tax topics and has written several articles, including "Income Taxes: State Tax Credits and Incentives" for Tax Management's Multistate Tax Service.

Nachbar serves as an advisory board member for the Center for Multistate Taxation at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, the Multistate Corporate Tax Guide, The Journal of State Taxation and the Multistate Tax Advisory Board for Tax Management, Inc.

Nachbar is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society. He received a Bachelor of Science in Management from Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Illinois, College of Law, Urbana, Illinois.
