Marist teams sweep home track meet.


Byline: The Register-Guard

CORRECTION (ran 4/16/2005): The Siuslaw High School boys track and field team won a four-way meet at Marist on Thursday, defeating Marist, Pleasant Hill and La Pine. A story and headline on Page C6 on Friday had the incorrect winning team.

 with a throw of 155-8 to lead Marist to the team win in a four-team Sky-Em League prep boys track meet at Marist on Thursday.

Junction City Junction City, city (1990 pop. 20,604), seat of Geary co., NE Kans., at the confluence of the Republican and Smoky Hill rivers; inc. 1859. The rail, trade, and processing center of an agricultural and dairy area, it grew as the supply point for nearby Fort Riley,  won five events, including both relays, and used its depth to come away with a team victory in a four-team Sky-Em League meet at Elmira.

Jesse Schutte shot a 70 to hold a four-stroke lead over Taft's Aaron Koch Aaron Paul Koch (born February 21, 1978 in Portland, Oregon) is a former National Football League offensive lineman for the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2000-2001. He played college football at Oregon State University and was signed by the Jaguars after graduation.  and lead Siuslaw to the first-day lead at the eight-team Siuslaw Invitational at Sandpines Golf Links.

The tournament concludes today at Ocean Dunes Golf Links.

Boys tennis

Brent Kingzett and Walt James won No. 1 doubles to pace host South Eugene to a 6-2 Midwestern League win over Springfield.

Shawn Recinos blanked his opponent in No. 3 singles to lead host Sheldon to a 7-1 Midwestern League win over Marshfield.

Carissa Lee and Stephanie Waples won No. 1 doubles to lead visiting Churchill to a 6-2 Midwestern League victory over Willamette.

Divnit Kaur won No. 1 singles to lead Marist to a 5-3 District 2 victory over host Junction City.

Lacrosse lacrosse (ləkrôs`), ball and goal game usually played outdoors by two teams of 10 players each on a field 60 to 70 yd (54.86 to 64.01 m) wide by 110 yd (100.58 m) long. Two goals face each other 80 yd (73.  

Zach Dehnert scored four goals and assisted on two others to lead Sheldon to an 11-1 Willamette South League win over Thurston.
