Marine port worker has the President as a neighbor.


Cpl. Chad Hickey could be any other U.S. Marine supporting the discharge of the Caribe Merchant on July 1 at Port Everglades Port Everglades, in Broward County, Florida, is one of the United States's top container ports with more than 5,400 ships at call in a year, a major petroleum storage and distribution hub, and a United States Navy liberty port. It is the deepest of all Florida ports. , Fla.

But, Hickey, 22, is distinctly different.

You see, Hickey is a neighbor of the President--That is right: President George W. Bush.

In the 7th grade, Hickey's parents moved to Crawford, Texas Crawford is a Waco suburb located in western McLennan County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 705. The 2005 census estimates Crawford's population at 789.[1]

The town was incorporated on August 12, 1897.
. The town has the distinct honor of having the President's ranch in close proximity.

"The majority of people like it," said Hickey, who joined the Marines upon high school graduation in 2000. "It helps the town."

Hickey, a vehicle commander for a light armored vehicle, has seen the President two times.

No matter, with Haitian duty behind him and the Caribe Merchant discharge-Hickey has other thoughts. He is going home for two weeks leave. He is going home to Crawford.
