Sleeping Beauty

 at the old Metropolitan Opera House with the Sadler's Wells Ballet (now The Royal Ballet Royal Ballet, the principal British ballet company, based at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London. It is noted for lavish dramatic productions, a superbly disciplined corps de ballet, and brilliant performances from its principals. ). It was the start of two American love affairs: one with that ballerina, Margot Fonteyn, and the other with the full-evening ballet.

Fonteyn in all her glory, from that debut and her years as Frederick Ashton's Favored muse to the days of her legendary partnership with Rudolf Nureyev--she was twenty years TWENTY YEARS. The lapse of twenty years raises a presumption of certain facts, and after such a time, the party against whom the presumption has been raised, will be required to prove a negative to establish his rights.
