March spam and viruses statistics.


Softscan have announced that spam E-mail that is not requested. Also known as "unsolicited commercial e-mail" (UCE), "unsolicited bulk e-mail" (UBE), "gray mail" and just plain "junk mail," the term is both a noun (the e-mail message) and a verb (to send it).  levels has marginally dropped from last month's high of 90.3%, but still remained at an alarming 89.09% of all emails scanned. Virus levels continue to be low at just 0.6%.

Virus levels remain steady accounting for just 0.6% of total email scanned. The top five virus families in March were

1--phishing: 92.09%

2--netsky: -3.38%

3--mytob: 1.27%

4--bagle: 0.86%

5--stration: 0.56%
