March High-Value Federal IT Contract Awards Exceed $3B.Business Editors/High-Tech Writers RESTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 26, 2004 High value federal IT & C4I C4I - Command, Control, Communications, Computers, & Intelligence (US DoD) contract awards totaled approximately $3.1 billion in March 2004, according to INPUT, the essential government market intelligence resource. INPUT classifies contracts with award values over $1 million as high-value. "Defense agencies dominated the top contract awards in March. Within the top 10 awarded contracts, there were only three awarding agencies: Army, Air Force and Navy," says Ashlea Higgs, Manager of Vendor Information Products at INPUT. In March, the largest federal contract award went to SI International (NASDAQ: SINT). This small business set-aside valued at approximately $800M by the Air Force Space Command will provide command, control, communications, computer, intelligence, IT, surveillance, and reconnaissance engineering and technical support. Team Keyport Services, a joint venture of BAE Systems (LON: BAESY.PK) and Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems (NYSE: RTN), was awarded the second largest contract in March. The $302M Team Keyport Services contract will provide the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division with technical and engineering services. Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) and Titan Corporation (NYSE: TTN) were awarded contracts valued at $222M and $173M, respectively by the Army for the Joint Analytical Support Program. While the number of high value contract awards has increased significantly over previous months, the total value of the awards has decreased. Higgs explains, "The decrease is partially due to the lack of any blockbuster billion dollar program awards; however, a handful of billion dollar programs are expected to be awarded before June." INPUT tracked a total of 49 new high-value contract awards in the federal IT and C4I sector in March 2004 versus 35 awards in March 2003 and 29 in February 2004.
