The information will be used in ongoing discussions about returning Diamond Lake to a fishable, swimmable lake, officials said. The lake is in eastern Douglas County Douglas County is the name of twelve counties in the United States:

"lead-line" technology and inadequate measurements, the fish and wildlife department said.

Lead-line technology involves lowering a lead weight to the lake bottom and charting the depth when it feels like the weight has struck bottom. Because Diamond Lake has very soft sediment sediment, mineral or organic particles that are deposited by the action of wind, water, or glacial ice. These sediments can eventually form sedimentary rocks (see rock). , the 1946 map probably overestimated the volume of water in the lake, officials said.
