 group Manulife Financial Manulife Financial (NYSE: MFC, TSX: MFC, SEHK: 945, PSE: MFC), also known as The Manufacturers Life Insurance Company, is a major Canadian insurance company and financial services provider.  Corp. said its joint venture in China has launched a group insurance business that will market life insurance and employee benefits products to companies.

Manulife-Sinochem Life Insurance Co. Ltd. is taking advantage of the Chinese government's recent lifting of restrictions on foreign participation in group insurance to offer financial and protection products to companies in China, said Marc Sterling, executive vice president of regional operations in Asia.

Sterling said Manulife-Sinochem is launching its group insurance products for employers in Shanghai Shanghai (shăng`hī`, shäng`hī`), city (1994 est. pop. 12,980,000), in, but independent of, Jiangsu prov., E China, on the Huangpu (Whangpoo) River where it flows into the Chang (Yangtze) estuary. , Guangzhou, Beijing and Ningbo, and will roll out the products later in the other cities in which it has ;t presence: Foshan and Dongguan. Later, it will set up shop in Hangzhou and Nanjing, as well.
