Manual QMC for smaller presses.

A completely manual quick-mold-changing system said to be 50-75% less expensive than hydraulic systems is new from Staubli Corp., Duncan, S.C. The Manual Bayonet bayonet

Short, sharp-edged, sometimes pointed weapon, designed for attachment to the muzzle of a firearm. According to tradition, it was developed in Bayonne, France, early in the 17th century and soon spread throughout Europe.
system is just what the name implies--a manual and all-mechanical system that doesn't rely on hydraulic or electric power. The system is designed for molding machines with 300 tons or less of clamping force. "The real limiting factor A factor or condition that, either temporarily or permanently, impedes mission accomplishment. Illustrative examples are transportation network deficiencies, lack of in-place facilities, malpositioned forces or materiel, extreme climatic conditions, distance, transit or overflight rights, ," says Staubli engineer Bobby Cranford, "is the size and weight of the mold." The system can accommodate a max. mold weight of 3300 1b and max. mold dimension of 30-in. square. A small mold--around 200 lb or less--can be changed in 2-5 min, Staubli says. Larger tools can take 10-15 min.

LIKE A CAMERA LENS

The key to the manual mold-changing system is a locking collar similar to those used to change lenses on a 35-mm camera. The collar pulls the mold toward the machine's platen A long, thin cylinder in a typewriter or printer that guides the paper through it and serves as a backstop for the printing mechanism to bang into. It is typically made of a hard rubber or rubber-like material. See carriage and typewriter.  and locks it in place.

system, the standard center rings are replaced with bayonet rings, and a bayonet plate with integral locking mechanism is secured to the machine's platen to accommodate the mold half. Once the bayonet ring on the mold is inserted into the locking mechanism, a removable handle is pulled down, securing the mold to the platen.

The chromed locking mechanism is 4-in. in diam., the SPI (1) (Stateful Packet Inspection) See stateful inspection.

Consist of two main parts, an injection unit and a clamping unit. . The drilling pattern for the Manual Bayonet system also conforms to SPI standards, allowing molds to be changed between different types of machines, Staubli says. (CIRCLE 44)

EXCLUSIVE LABELING AGREEMENT

In April, Staubli signed a private-label agreement with Cincinnati Milacron's U.S. Plastics Machinery Div., Batavia, Ohio Batavia is a village in Clermont County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,617 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Clermont CountyGR6. Geography

. Staubli will manufacture the bayonet systems and its pneumatic Convenience Mold Change systems to be sold as part of Milacron's CIMPAC integrated processing cells. While the bayonet system is targeted at use with smaller presses, the Convenience Mold Change systems are designed to be use with 1000-3000 ton machines. (CIRCLE 31)
