MannKind Corp. reported on Wednesday Wednesday: see week.  that it has shown positive results in a mid-stage clinical trial of its Technosphere Insulin insulin, hormone secreted by the β cells of the islets of Langerhans, specific groups of cells in the pancreas. Insufficiency of insulin in the body results in diabetes. Insulin was one of the first products to be manufactured using genetic engineering.  System that allows diabetes patients to inhale in·hale

 insulin instead of injecting it.

The study, the company said, seemed to show that patients under both treatments improved. There are over 21 million people with diabetes in the country.
