Manila places airport on high alert.

Manila: Philippine authorities have placed the country's main airport - Ninoy Aquino International Airport The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Filipino: Paliparang Pandaigdig ng Ninoy Aquino) or NAIA (IATA: MNL, ICAO: RPLL) is one of the two international airports serving the Metro Manila Area and the main international gateway of the Philippines.  - on high alert in the wake of the bloody attacks in Mumbai.

As an archipelagic country, the Philippines has major sea ports that have been targeted by terrorists in the past, mostly coming from the Jemaah Islamiya.

Alfonso Cusi, general manager of the Manila International Airport Authority, said the security measures have been coordinated with the Philippine National Police The Philippine National Police is the national police force of the Republic of the Philippines. It is both a national and a local police force in that it provides all law enforcement services throughout the Philippines.  Aviation Security Group and other support units.

Anti-terrorist units have also placed some major seaports on high alert.

Sea marshals have also been deployed aboard passenger vessels to deter terrorist threats.
