Caption: Manhattan Beer Distributors of the Bronx, NY, has announced the "repowering" of 15 heavy-duty beverage vehicles through installation of new engines running on compressed natural gas (CNG). "We're excited to be part of an effort to maintain cleaner air quality in metro New York by using CNG in our trucks," said Manhattan Beer president and CEO Simon Bergson. "This is the first wave of our fleet transition." The repowering initiative involved the installation of John Deere 6.8-liter dedicated natural gas engines and special fuel tanks in the trucks by Bell Power Systems. CNG vehicles produce the lowest levels of all pollutant emissions.
