Mandorin Goldfields Announces Commencement of a Significant Drilling Program on its Contract of Work, in West Kalimantan, Indonesia.VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 13, 1996--Mr. Arn Schoch, President of Mandorin Goldfields n. 1. A small slender woolly annual (Lasthenia chrysostoma) with very narrow opposite leaves and branches bearing solitary golden-yellow flower heads; it grows from Southwestern Oregon to Baja California and Arizona; - it is often cultivated. Inc. ("Mandorin") (VSE See DOS/VSE. VSE - Virtual Storage Extended :MGD mgd abbr. million gallons per day ) is pleased to announce that a major diamond drilling Diamond Drilling is a highly specialized industry used for mineral exploration around the world. Most commonly using wireline and core bits with diamond encrusted matrix. To drill holes to max depths of twelve thousand feet, for the recovery of core used in verifying mineral program has now commenced on the company's Contract of Work (C.o.W.) in West Kalimantan, Indonesia. A diamond drill rig (and sufficient HQ/NQ rods to penetrate to a depth of 450 metres) is currently set up on the property. Diamond drilling is underway. The current phase of exploration commits to a minimum contractual requirement of 2,000 metres of drilling. The proposed drill program is a result of previous aggressive exploration programs which culminated in the definition of four significant drill targets within the boundary of the company's C.o.W. Mandorin's C.o.W. is situated on the west side of the central Kalimantan magmatic arc, a Tertiary volcanic belt that hosts a number of large gold deposits including BRE-X's spectacular Busang deposit, CRA's Kelian deposit and Aurora Gold's Mt. Muro deposit. Specifically, the Mandor prospects lie within the western flank of a large multi-phase granitic batholith batholith, enormous mass of intrusive igneous rock, that is, rock made of once-molten material that has solidified below the earth's surface (see rock). Batholiths usually are granitic (see granite) in composition, have steeply inclined walls, have no visible floors, which has been intruded by a series of volcanic rocks and their sub-volcanic equivalents, including tonolites, andesites, rhyolites and quartz diorite stocks. Numerous occurrences of structurally controlled, hydrothermal hydrothermal, hydrothermic relating to the temperature effects of water, as in hot baths. copper-gold mineralization Mineralization The process by which the body uses minerals to build bone structure. Dutch reports of early mining activity have suggested the possible existence of bulk mineable copper-gold deposits in the Mandor area. In preparation for this drilling program, the results of recent exploration on the property are being assessed. Soil sampling has defined target areas geochemically anomalous in copper, gold, arsenic and mercury. I.P. geophysical surveys over three of these non- contiguous, geochemically anomalous areas identified on the Mandor Block II have been completed. The initial, preliminary interpretation of the results of these I.P. surveys has provided significant encouragement for the company to confidently proceed with the current diamond drill program. The first drill hole, 96DLS-1, was collared (azimuth azimuth (ăz`əməth), in astronomy, one coordinate in the altazimuth coordinate system. It is the angular distance of a body measured westward along the celestial horizon from the observer's south point. 310 deg./dip 60 deg.) May 9, 1996 on the Lian Sipe copper-gold prospect where previously, a shallow (30 metres) Winkie drill hole intersected 25 metres of 1.34 percent copper and 0.15 grams gold. The potential of this significant intersection will be initially tested, both laterally and to depth, by three HQ diamond drill holes. At the Lian Sipi North East area, the results of the I.P. geophysical survey have indicated several relatively shallow anomalous zones that are coincident with an area of anomalous copper, gold and molybdenum molybdenum (məlĭb`dənəm) [Gr.,=leadlike], metallic chemical element; symbol Mo; at. no. 42; at. wt. 95.94; m.p. about 2,617°C;; b.p. about 4,612°C;; sp. gr. 10.22 at 20°C;; valence +2, +3, +4, +5, or +6. soil geochemistry. All of these zones will be drill tested. Subsequently; the drill testing of the third target, an I.P. anomaly at the German Workings will be undertaken. At this location, initial interpretation of the I.P. data has indicated the presence of a strong I.P. anomaly situated approximately 100 metres below the surface. A series of deeper drill holes are planned to test this area. During testing of the alluvial resource on Sungai Raya Raya may refer to:
Test pitting of the alluvial resource on Mandorin's Sungai Raya Block I is continuing. Test pit number two is currently being processed and stripping of the overburden at the third pit is underway. Activities with respect to the required environmental assessment of the project are also proceeding. -0- NOTE TO EDITORS: The Vancouver Stock Exchange Vancouver Stock Exchange (VSE) A securities and options exchange in Vancouver, British Columbia, (Canada), specializing in venture capital companies.
