"Employers just don't have the time or resources to customize programs for the health of their international employees," said Kathy Sink, head of the Aetna Global Benefits International Service Center. "As a result, we continually look to create innovative services to help companies keep their employees in optimal health so that they focus on their assignments."

Aetna Global Benefits, the international health and group benefits subsidiary of Aetna, Inc., provides comprehensive benefits coverage for more than 130,000 expatriates, third-country nationals, and key local nationals in over 100 countries. A core component of their international programs includes an International Service Center and an International Health Advisory Team (IHAT IHAT Integrated Hardware in the Loop Avionics Test

), which assists members' with their health care issues around the world.

"The IHAT team is comprised of registered nurses (RNs) who serve as the single point of contact for members," said Sink. "The RNs help with obtaining and coordinating routine care, emergency assistance, prescriptions and medical evacuations." IHAT also provides pre-trip planning, which is meant to prepare individuals for their transition into a new environment.
