Managing airflow: Making small forces work for you.

Understanding and managing the airflow around and through a space is important to enable designers to manipulate natural ventilation Natural ventilation is the process of supplying and removing air through an indoor space by natural means. There are two types of natural ventilation occurring in buildings: wind driven ventilation and stack ventilation.  forces, minimize the energy used and noise created to distribute the air, and to control the visual impact of grilles and air inlets.

Natural or mechanically induced movement of fresh air into or through an enclosed space. The hazards of poor ventilation were not clearly understood until the early 20th century. Expired air may be laden with odors, heat, gases, or dust.

The air from each side of the hall is introduced with sufficient velocity to achieve good mixing without causing noise or down-draughts when the jets from opposite sides meet.
