Managers Can Earn Leadership Designation.

Field managers who enroll in the Chartered Leadership Fellow (CLF) designation program now follow a single seven-course track.

"Student evaluations of the CLF Capstone course [the final element of course work] in terms of content, presentation and instruction have been outstanding, but managers and home offices did not like having to choose between the two tracks," said Samuel H. Weese, college president.

To earn the designation, a candidate must complete six courses, followed by the Capstone course. Each course is sponsored by Limra International, Windsor, Conn.; The American College, Bryn Mawr, Pa.; or GAMA International, Washington, D.C.

The courses are the Agency Management Training Course (Limra); Essentials of Management Development or Leading Practices Seminar (GAMA); Leadership in a Changing World (American College); Interpersonal Relationships in the Workplace (American College); Creative Problem Solving and the Strategic Planning Process (American College); and Field Management Seminar (Limra). The final course, Leading the Marketing Organization of the Future, is provided by The American College.

Before March 1, students had to choose one of two tracks. One was an agency-management training course provided by Limra and the college for people becoming managers for the first time. The other was a one-week residency program on best practices provided by GAMA.
