in 1982, MDI is growing tremendously and calls itself the software innovator in long-term care.

, which is how he became familiar with the industry. Initially, his business was built by word of mouth.

MDI's first product was Release 5, clinical and accounting software. The newest thing for its time, the software did quite well for the company. In 1995, MDI was the first to bring a fully integrated, Windows-based application to the market. Named On-line Advantage, this software tied clinical and accounting programs into interactive, data-sharing software applications. On-line Advantage was more flexible and user-friendly than Release 5.

MDI's latest application, MDI Connect, is Internet-based and is expected to be released in the near future. It will be an online service for clinical and accounting software that is installed and tested through MDI.

Growing tremendously, over a year ago MDI moved from its small St. Louis building into a bigger facility. MDI prefers to conduct its training at the company headquarters and, because of high demand, the company opened a new building for two training classes.

The company considers itself instrumental in the evolution of technology standards for long-term care software by releasing new versions of software as technology has become available. MDI plans to continue to lead the industry by introducing Internet-based applications, which will change the world of information systems in long-term care.
