"We saw this as a meaningful way that Cooper Square could get involved in dealing with a truly serious problem here in New York. Now I hope others in the real estate industry will join us," stated David Kuperberg, president of Cooper Square, who conceived of REinvest Success. Under the program, Cooper Square Realty dedicates a portion of profit from each new apartment owner or tenant in its buildings as a contribution to Community Access, a group that helps homeless find apartments. Kuperberg, who has supported the CA program for nearly two decades, recently saw the opportunity to try not only to help all CA tenants, but others who might reach out to the housing program for its assistance. In his REinvest program, Kuperberg uses this formula: Each time someone moves into a Cooper Square owned or managed apartment, it makes a donation to Community Access. A minimum annual donation by Cooper Square of $10,000 is guaranteed. The greater the firm's profits, the greater the contribution. There is no ceiling to this effort. |
