Manage and Control Communication Circuits via the Web with Dataprobe's New IP-AB Network Switches; Switches Enable Users to Remotely Monitor Line Quality, Receive E-Mail Alerts and Automatically Alternate between Redundant Lines.

PARAMUS, N.J. -- Dataprobe, a leading manufacturer of innovative technology solutions for networking, systems and site management, has released its new Web-enabled communications switches for redundancy and failover applications. The IP-AB series is designed to ensure constant connectivity by toggling to redundant lines or equipment in the event of service failure. These switches support both automatic failure detection and manageability via Web browser The program that serves as your front end to the Web on the Internet. In order to view a site, you type its address (URL) into the browser's Location field; for example, www.computerlanguage.com, and the home page of that site is downloaded to you.  or simple network management protocol (SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) A widely used network monitoring and control protocol. Data are passed from SNMP agents, which are hardware and/or software processes reporting activity in each network device (hub, router, bridge, etc. ).

The IP-AB switches support a wide variety of networking and telecommunication interfaces, and provide Layer 1 physical switching to ensure constant connectivity. Users can access the switch remotely at any time by pointing a Web browser to the switch's IP address and entering a user name and password. Once accessed, users can toggle To alternate back and forth between two states.

toggle - To change a bit from whatever state it is in to the other state; to change from 1 to 0 or from 0 to 1. This comes from "toggle switches", such as standard light switches, though the word "toggle" actually refers to
the phone or data system to the redundant line (either 'A' or 'B') by simply clicking the corresponding button. This operation also allows users to configure the system to automatically toggle between lines of equipment in the case of equipment failure or service overload.

"One of challenge of managing critical communications circuit has always been that service interruptions, service degradation or connection maintenance required on-site support," said David Weiss There are several individuals of note named David Weiss, including:

easier and more efficient by allowing the user to automate settings, control switching and view status over the Web or via SNMP manager. The IP-AB makes redundant line protection a simple choice for IT managers across all industries."

Another innovation of the IP-AB switches is the auto-ping feature, which allows the unit to automatically detect failed equipment and switch to a redundant line automatically. Users program a threshold at which the auto-ping will take effect, based on their personal criteria. When the programmed "fail conditions" are met, the switching function is activated. The user can select one of five actions for the switch to execute when the function is activated. Custom actions can also be programmed for the switch to execute under specified conditions.

With the Web capabilities, users also have access to a comprehensive set-up menu that features several personalized per·son·al·ize

settings. Users can elect to receive e-mail alerts whenever a change in switch status occurs. These e-mails are automatically generated and can be received by any e-mail capable device. Additional reporting to one or more SNMP managers is also provided. Other features include dual password setup, SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) The leading security protocol on the Internet. The IP-AB is available to switch a wide range of communications interfaces, including: 10/100/1G Ethernet, RS-232, RS-530, T-1/E-1, DS-3 and analog telephone. Switches are available in both single circuit standalone stand·a·lone
