Byline: The Register-Guard

SPRINGFIELD - A Springfield man believed to be suicidal was arrested

Tuesday night after barricading himself inside his home.

Springfield police responded to a report of a suicidal man at a home in the 2000 block of E Street at 6:11 p.m.

The man, who was armed with a .357 magnum revolver, had barricaded himself in the upstairs portion of the residence, police said.

After negotiating with him for two hours, the man came downstairs and was arrested.

The man was being held at the Lane County Jail on an unrelated misdemeanor warrant and will receive a mental evaluation, police said.
