Springfield Police Detective Keith Seanor, who helped investigate the Norland case, said police do not believe GHB is widely abused in the local area. Court records indicate that Norland obtained the drug and chemicals to make it in the Seattle area.

The investigation began in January after Linda Kay Brown, 47, fatally shot herself. Relatives discovered the drug in her apartment and told police that she had been addicted, according to court records.

The investigation led to a search warrant at Norland's home at 130 F St., where police found several bottles of liquid GHB and a precursor, gamma butyrolactone (GBL GBL Gamma-Butyrolactone

A 10-woman, two-man jury deliberated about two hours before finding Norland guilty late Friday of two counts of possession and two counts of delivery of a controlled substance controlled substance n. a drug which has been declared by federal or state law to be illegal for sale or use, but may be dispensed under a physician's prescription.  to Brown.
