Man, 48 held after drugs discovery at airport.

CUSTOMS officers have arrested a man at Birmingham Airport on suspicion of attempting to smuggle smug·gle

 pounds 70,000 of cannabis into the UK.

The 48-year-old man, who is both a British and South African national, has been charged with concealing 26 kilos of the ClassC drug.

The drugs were found in luggage.

The matter was passed to HM Revenue & Customs investigation officers to continue inquiries.

UK Border Agency detection manager Steve Roper warned would-be smugglers that regional airports were not a soft touch.
