Though an informal event with no time limits, entrants received official marathon T-shirts and finisher photographs. "Most of the entrants were around the age of 70, give or take a few years," reports MIM runner Dr. Tom Bassler. "Most have run a hundred marathons or more each. We are runners who ran famous marathons with Ron in London, Honolulu, Boston, and New York back in the 1970s." The flat, scenic marathon course stretched out along Pacific Coast Highway Pacific Coast Highway may refer to:

Carillo Beach, and back. "We walkers can take nine or ten hours to cover the distance," explains Bassler. "Like me, Ron feels that mileage is an important factor in maintaining health in the Medicare age group." Lawrence plans to continue organizing invitational marathons in the future. |
