BERLIN -- Some of the pilgrims attending this month's World Youth Day in Cologne, Germany almost had to pass a catechism test to attend--one created by the German government. A sample quiz, prepared by the German embassy in Tirana, Albania, was leaked to the German tabloid Bild and included questions such as "When and how did Jesus die?" and "How long did Jesus remain on earth after his Resurrection?"

The tests were originally meant to prevent foreigners from feigning devotion to get a visa and then illegally staying in Germany, according to Deutsche Welle, an international radio service. The government's plan was foiled, however, when Bild ran a sample questionnaire--and included the answers.
