In one of the more poignant chapters, titled "Children in the Middle," students were asked to identify what they liked about themselves. The responses were categorically arranged to include: Personality, Athleticism/Other Talent, Attitude Behavior, Intelligence/Academic Ability, Self-Confidence, Appearance, Everything, Other, and Nothing. Emphasis in the book was placed on the development of partnerships between parents and educators, and the use of student responses to guide in developing strong programs.
