Machinery to make unusual steel-ribbed HDPE pipe up to 2250 mm in diam. is available from Krauss-Maffei Corp., Florence, Ky. The pipe technology was recently developed and patented by the Plastream Div. of Rib Loc Pty. Ltd., a pipe maker in Adelaide, Australia. The pipes are made from a continuous steel-reinforced plastic profile, which consists of a rib and flange, which are overlapped and spirally wound and welded to form pipe of 200 to 2250 mm diam. Pipe size can be changed simply by changing the cage size on the spiral winder. One extrusion die can produce profiles for pipes of 200 to 1000 mm. Larger pipe requires a different die to make a larger profile. A complete package is offered for a one-time price without royalties.
