Major happenings in 2006.

The American Road Race Medical Society (ARRMS) is gearing up to help present a historic medical meeting in October 2006--The LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon 2006 World Congress: Science and Medicine of the Marathon.

ARRMS's Dr. Greg Ewert, medical director for the marathon, led the effort to obtain financial backing from the marathon's sponsor. Thanks to the LaSalle Bank, the World Congress: Science and Medicine of the Marathon will be the first such gathering of marathon medical professionals since the 1976 World Congress produced by the NY Academy of Sciences. The conference will take place over four days with forty presenters from around the world.

Event host Intercontinental Hotel in Downtown Chicago has set aside a block of 250 rooms for the World Congress. The event runs October 18-21, and advance registration is available online (www.SMMConference.com) for $299. Registration at the door is $350. An entry into the LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon will be included with all registrations prior to August 16th. CME CME
