These new members signify the expanding XML marketplace and are the most recent additions to OASIS' growing population of user members.

"OASIS is the one place where major XML users from around the world come together to work with vendors on advancing structured information standards," commented Bill Smith, vice president of OASIS. Smith's company, Sun Microsystems, is a long-standing user member of OASIS. "OASIS helps users protect the investment they're making in XML by playing a key role in defining and resolving interoperability issues."

"As one of the largest publishers in the world with some of the most challenging publishing requirements, Boeing benefits significantly from the application of structured information standards," explained Doug Alberg, a Boeing senior product manager. "It is important for us to support the creation, dissemination and adoption of these standards."

"Our vested interest in OASIS stems from our belief that accelerating the adoption of product-independent formats based on public standards will enhance Sabre's functionality and cost effectiveness of solutions delivered to our customers," said Eric Garcia, vice president of planning & communications for Sabre strategic architecture.

The Boeing Company, after its merger in 1997 with McDonnell Douglas and acquisition in 1996 of the defense and space units of Rockwell International, became the largest aerospace company in the world.
