Major Pet Care Company Opposes CSPA Petition to Register Minimum Risk Pesticides.

MANASSAS, Va. -- Sergeant's Pet Care Products claims that the CSPA petition, which seeks to require pesticide registrations for "minimum risk" products that make claims against public health pests, is driven by a desire to reduce or limit competition. In an exclusive interview, CSPA's senior vice president responds. In the meantime, state regulators have joined the fray in support of the petition.

EPA's Reregistration Eligibility Decision for propiconazole identifies several areas of concern for the pesticide, most of which relate to its use as an antimicrobial materials preservative. For some of those uses, EPA is requiring additional data, as well as risk mitigation measures.
