Maintenance hubs takeoff. (Gateways to the World).

Maintenance, repair and overhaul Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul or MRO is a multi-billion dollar industry which works on international authorization rules to deliver a safe airline operation and to assure reliability and availability of customer fleets.  (MRO MRO

) businesses offer services to many and varied airlines with the objective of keeping customers' airplanes where they should be--in the air, making money. The goal is to help customers generate more revenue with increased flying hours, longer airplane life cycle and enhanced overall aviation safety. Recently, several former military bases, such as Southern California Logistics Airport Southern California Logistics Airport (IATA: VCV, ICAO: KVCV), also known as Victorville Airport, is a public airport located in the city of Victorville in San Bernardino County, California, USA approximately 90 miles northeast of Los Angeles.  and Rickenbacker International Airport Coordinates:

Rickenbacker International Airport (IATA: LCK, ICAO: KLCK, FAA LID: LCK) is a public airport located 10 miles (16 km) south of the central business district of Columbus, a city in Franklin County,
, have developed maintenance hubs as one of several business units.

Current Global Access Network companies include:

MRO Business After September 11

While the airline and logistics industries have been severely impacted by the events of September 11, the MRO business is seeing a turnaround. Recently, 13 of more than 250 airplanes stored at SCLA SCLA South Carolina Library Association
SCLA Southern California Logistics Airport (formerly George AFB)
SCLA Southern Comparative Literature Association
SCLA Spring Creek Lodge Academy (Thompson Falls, MT)
 returned to service.

"We have completed our first major C check very successfully and have been busy returning aircraft to service," said Joe Vreeman, vice president and general manager, BAE SYSTEMS, Victorville.

Vreeman cited SCLA's impressive infrastructure, namely the dedicated fuel supply line; power plant; runways of 13,050 feet (15,050 feet upon completion) and 10,000 feet; modern hangar facilities; expansion space; planning; leadership; and the Inland Empire North's skilled pool of aviation workers as reasons for BAE SYSTEMS, Victorville's recent selection of SCLA to house its North America civil flight services branch.

"Much of the work force the aircraft maintenance groups will draw from settled in Victorville and greater Columbus when the airports were active military bases," said Terry Caldwell, chairman of Southern California Logistics Airport Authority. "There remains a substantial population of skilled aviation professionals in both regions -- a true asset to maintenance and aviation companies looking to set up operations."
