Kohring is accused of selling a vote on oil and gas taxes to executives at Veco Corp., an oil field services and construction company. The executives pleaded guilty in May to paying the bribes. Kohring, first elected in 1994, has pleaded not guilty and hopes to return to office some day. "Resigning by no means suggests guilt," Kohring said. "It simply means I take the federal charges very seriously. Former Representatives Pete Kott Peter "Pete" Kott (b. 1949) is a former state representative for District 17 serving Eagle River, Alaska, in the Alaska Legislature for seven terms, from 1993 until 2007. He was Speaker of the House during his sixth term in 2003-2004. and Bruce Weyhrauch also pleaded not guilty in the case. |
