Mainstay Investments Deepens Retail Sales Commitment - Eastern Seaboard and Southwest Strengthened -.

PARSIPPANY, N.J. -- MainStay Investments today announced the appointments of Skip Chandler, Chris Fiacco, Sandy Hornor, Robert Finley and Dave Zander as Regional Vice Presidents of Sales. MainStay Investments, a division of New York Life Investment Management LLC (NYLIM), offers to retail investors a range of products including MainStay Funds, Separately Managed Accounts and the CollegeSense 529 College Savings Plan.

This is the most recent in a series of new hires that MainStay Investments commenced nine months ago with the objective of deepening an already extensive network of senior wholesalers. A total of fourteen professionals have joined the firm as part of this significant growth initiative.

MainStay's expansion of its wholesaler presence is occurring at a time when many competitors are scaling back.

"We believe there is tremendous opportunity now in the mutual fund and managed account business," said Chris Blunt, president of MainStay Investments. "In 2004 we ramped up the process of bringing in top-tier talent at the wholesaler level, and we enter 2005 with another infusion. Skip, Chris, Sandy, Robert and Dave will target key regions where significant growth opportunities exist. Each has a stellar background for this business and brings tremendous energy and professionalism to their work."

As wholesalers, the four will market and sell MainStay products to intermediaries including national, full service brokerage firms, regional firms and independent broker-dealers.

Skip (Christopher) Chandler will call on national and regional brokerage firms in southern Texas and Louisiana. Prior to joining MainStay, Skip was a Vice President at Phoenix Investment Partners. He has also held positions with American Annuity Group, US Bancorp Investments, and Merrill Lynch.

Chris Fiacco will work with national and regional brokerage firms in Delaware, Eastern Pennsylvania and Eastern Maryland. Most recently, Chris worked for Lord, Abbett & Co. as a Regional Manager. His previous experience includes Regional Wholesaler and Internal Wholesaler positions at BlackRock Funds.

Robert Finley will call on national and regional brokerage firms in the North Texas region. Previously, Robert was a Senior Vice President at Berkeley Capital Management. He has also held positions with UBS Global Asset Management, Clarke Lanzen Skalla/Orbitex Funds and The Cambridge Group.

Sandy Hornor's territory will include Western Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Virginia, working with national and regional brokerage firms. He comes to MainStay Investments from MFS, where he spent 16 years, most recently as Regional Vice President.

David Zander will cover financial advisors in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas for MainStay Investments. Previously, David held positions with Lincoln Financial, ING Aetna Financial Services, Life of Virginia, and PaineWebber.
