In your "Veteran's Day Salute" in your November/December issue, one of the Civil War letters was written by someone with a name that was a name in my grandmother's family. My grandmother, who was only 13 when her mother died, had some tintypes Tintypes is a musical revue conceived by Mary Kyte with Mel Marvin and Gary Pearle. With its time frame set between the turn of the 20th century and the onset of World War I, this chamber piece with a cast of five provides a musical history lesson focusing on an of her mother's family and had related to me what her mother had told her about them. I was delighted upon contacting the lady who submitted the letter to learn that it was written by the same person that I had heard my grandmother talk about. The submitter very graciously sent me a copy of the letter and referred me to her cousin who gave me some additional information, so thanks to Mississippi Magazine, I now know the "rest of the story" of the people in our tintypes. When I was a youngster, I had aunts, uncles, and cousins living there, and some of my earliest memories are of trips from Greenwood to visit them. However, Rosedale is far from "between Cleveland and Greenwood" as you have stated. Might that description lead potential visitors astray a·stray adv. 1. Away from the correct path or direction.
