Mailbox.Featured in this issue... The article on Shepard Smith ("News from Home," March/April) was a great one. Never miss him on Fox, he mentions Mississippi so often. While in New York in December, my friend JoeJeff Gordon and I visited with Shepard. He was so gracious and so proud to see two old Ole Miss Rebels. How about that snow. The magazine is as wonderful as ever. Kay Gex Jackson I happened upon this magazine in a lovely little bookstore in Hernando a few years back. I am so glad that I picked it up and decided to purchase it. I definitely wanted to subscribe to it. My husband and I have traveled to Mississippi several times and find ourselves wanting to return more and more each time we visit. We have traveled the Natchez Trace and Route 6f often. Your magazine features many places we have visited. It is almost like being there once again. Keep up the good work. I eagerly anticipate the arrival of the next issue of Mississippi Magazine. Darlene Carroll Londonderry, Ohio I grew up in the Delta on a cotton plantation four miles out from the town of Shaw, 10 miles south of Cleveland. Your March/April issue includes an article about Cleveland and Boo Ferriss ("Cleveland: The Delta's Cultural Capital"). Boo and I were close in age and have been lifelong friends. Considering his celebrity, it's a puzzlement that the writer of the article could not spell Boo's last name correctly. The Ferriss family has always used a double 's'--not the single 's' used in the article. James L. Tapley Bethesda, Maryland Editor's note: We sincerely regret the error. For someone who called Mississippi home for 29 years, your Mississippi Magazine is a real treat! My husband and I retired from Mississippi State in 1993. The 2003 Wedding Register (January/February) was great fun to read as I recognized names of many former piano students and colleagues who are still performing at weddings! Starkville, Mississippi State--indeed, the entire state of Mississippi will always be special. Thank you for providing such a classy, professional magazine to those of us who treasure memories of friends and times spent in Mississippi. Brenda Ray DeFuniak Springs, Florida Thank you for the generous exposure in the March/April issue of Mississippi Magazine (Best Living Area, "Sensational Spaces 2003")! The issue is lovely, and I am grateful to be included. This is a real event, and you're doing a terrific job! Michael Grogan Jackson Thank you for a fine publication. I have read other "state" magazines, and none compares with Mississippi Magazine. Although we moved from Jackson seven years ago (having lived there a total of eight years), we have maintained our friendships and return on a yearly basis. I particularly enjoy your human interest stories (Southern Scrapbook) and the articles written by Forrest Lamar Cooper, among others. But the main reason I am writing is to let you know how much I appreciate the map of Mississippi on the Mailbox page. We traveled all over Mississippi while we lived there, but it is a help to be reminded where the towns are located.
