Mail essentials for Exchange/SMTP 3.5.

GFIs' new version of Mail essentials for Exchange/SMTP 3.5, its email security, content checking and anti-virus gateway, is designed to guard email servers from present and future macro viruses and HTML viruses. This increases email server security, while ensuring that users are protected from future macro and HTML viruses before anti-virus vendors release virus updates.

Mail essentials 3.5 can automatically remove Word macros and HTML scripts, If it detects a Word or Excel attachment that contains a macro, it will remove the macro automatically. The document will be sent to the recipient without the dangerous macro and is secure, last year's notorious Melissa virus and this year's Resume virus are two well-known examples of a macro-virus. The advent of HTML mail made it possible for hackers and virus writers to trigger commands by embedding them in an HTML mall, however, Mail essentials protects users against this by detecting these commands and automatically removing them. The HTML mail is still sent to the recipient. However the HTML commands are now disabled, rendering the emails secure.

Mail essentials can also block emails and attachments containing VB script (such as the LoveLetter virus), Windows Scripting, and Java scripts at email server level. As Mail essentials is a content checking gateway that installs before the mail server, it functions like an email firewall and can quarantine all dubious messages before they can reach email users and cause any harm.
