Magnum Semiconductor Announces Cost-Reduced Platforms for $99 DVD Recorders; New Chips and Platform Significantly Reduce the Bill of Material Cost.


FREMONT, Calif. -- Magnum Semiconductor, Inc. announced today a new chipset, designed to significantly lower the system cost of basic DVD recorder products, as well as providing improvements in system functionality.

"Magnum Semiconductor has been at the forefront of low-cost DVD Recorders since 2003, when our first customers introduced high quality products at a significantly lower retail price into the market," stated Jack Guedj, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. "We are introducing a new chipset which can be used on a 2-layer, low-cost, Phenol phenol (fē`nōl), C6H5OH, a colorless, crystalline solid that melts at about 41°C;, boils at 182°C;, and is soluble in ethanol and ether and somewhat soluble in water.  PCB PCB: see polychlorinated biphenyl.
