Magma also announced today that Quartz LVS is now in production release. Quartz LVS was Beta tested with select semiconductor and fabless design companies. All designs tested during the Beta period were extracted in less than two hours, with peak memory usage up to 10 times better than competitive tools.

"The market response to Quartz DRC and Quartz LVS has been tremendous," said John Lee, general manager of Magma's Physical Verification Business Unit. "Results of a recent survey by John Cooley, moderator of the E-Mail Synopsys Users Group (ESNUG ESNUG E-Mail Synopsys Users Group ) and the DeepChip website, showed that 76 percent of those surveyed planned to move to Magma's physical verification solution. We're very pleased with the nomination for the EDN Innovation of the Year as we feel it underscores the growing market adoption of Quartz DRC and Quartz LVS." Survey respondents' comments on the Mojave-spawned Quartz DRC and Quartz LVS included "Mojave rocks!" and "Mojave is looking hot." Complete survey results are available on the DeepChip website at http://www.deepchip.com/items/snug05-15.html.

About the EDN Innovation Awards

The EDN Innovation Awards honor outstanding engineering professionals and products. The Innovation of the Year awards recognize unique, state-of-the-art electronics products in several categories. The Innovator of the Year award recognizes an electronics engineer or engineering team for innovation in product design or technical leadership.

In addition to honoring these people and products, EDN donates a portion of the proceeds from the nominations and the awards event to an engineering college or university chosen by the Innovator of the Year. It's EDN's way of encouraging and supporting tomorrow's great minds.

The EDN Innovation Awards carry special meaning because the winners are chosen by a jury of their peers. After an open nomination period, a panel of EDN editors selects finalists in each category. Then, EDN's audience of engineers and engineering managers votes to select the final winners using an online ballot at www.edn.com/innovation.

About Quartz DRC and Quartz LVS

Quartz DRC and Quartz LVS are the industry's first fully scalable physical verification solutions. Leveraging a unique architecture and advanced modeling capabilities, these revolutionary products allow massively distributed processing of DRC and LVS operations. With this technology and the right number of processors, virtually any design can be physically verified in two hours. Quartz DRC and Quartz LVS are both available now for both Linux and AIX (Advanced Interactive eXecutive) IBM's Unix-based operating system which runs on its Intellistation workstations and pSeries, p5, iSeries and i5 server families.  platforms.
