Three major online magazines (Netzines) have emerged as some of the most popular. Each of the three specializes in different areas:

* Feed-www.feedmag.com, covers mostly technology, media & culture, a little over 200,000 visitors a month

* Salon-www.salonmag.com, covers mostly politics & culture, about 1.2 million visitors a month

* Slate-www.slate.com, news, investments, advice & general features, a little over 400,000 visitors a month

Microsoft's software and Intel's hardware pioneered the PC and revolutionized the computer industry. , tried to charges fee but subscriptions were slow coming in & advertising revenue dropped. It was decided that total revenue would be increased by dropping the readers fees to bring in more readers & hence more ad dollars. Thus far that seems to be working. Most of them will post new material to the site several times a week & for some it is posted daily.
