The new consumer/trade title is being published to serve as a design and build resource for "environmentally enhanced lifespan living," and is based on the acceptance of concepts which attempt to recognize, respect, value and accommodate the broadest possible spectrum of human abilities in the ergonomic design of products and environments that are easier to use, more aesthetically appealing and which integrate sustainable green building practices, minimizing the impact on the natural environment. The premier issue has articles on: site planning, watershed planning and low-impact development, biophilic design, smart homes, sustainable design promoted by the American Institute of Architects, current challenges facing builders, and national initiatives to encourage green design and construction. |
