In the largest settlement to date of lawsuits stemming from sexual assaults by former Eugene police officer Roger Magana, the city has agreed to pay $900,000 to a woman who said Magana coerced her into sexual acts during a 2 1/2 -year period.
With the settlement, the city now has paid $1.75 million to four women who sued for civil rights violations stemming from the criminal conduct of Magana, who is serving a 94-year prison term after his July 2004 convictions for rape, kidnapping, sodomy sodomy

In the most recent settlement, reached last week, a 33-year-old Eugene woman claimed that Magana and other officers sought sexual favors from her after she was questioned by Lara about a small amount of marijuana in her possession.
After the questioning, Magana repeatedly threatened to arrest her and take away her child if she did not perform sexual favors for him, according to her lawsuit.
From June 2002 to June 2003, Magana - while in uniform and driving a patrol car - came to her home "nearly every day," according to the suit.
