Macromedia unveils new site for developers.

Macromedia Labs, a new site on macromedia.com, designed for developers, has been unveiled by Macromedia (Nasdaq:MACR MACR Macromedia (stock symbol)

Macromedia Labs will enable developers to download early Macromedia technologies versions, share development, provide earlier feedback and help shape the future development of new Macromedia products and technologies. Macromedia Labs includes documentation, technical articles and samples, forums and wikis, podcasts and chats.

Developers can stay up-to-date with Macromedia Labs activities through RSS (Really Simple Syndication) A syndication format that was developed by Netscape in 1999 and became very popular for aggregating updates to blogs and the news sites. RSS has also stood for "Rich Site Summary" and "RDF Site Summary.  notifications and can use the Showcase Gallery to share their work based on the early releases. An alpha release of the Flex Builder 2 can be downloaded from the site by developers - previously code-named Zorn, Flex Builder 2, includes the Flex Framework and can incorporate rich media content from the Macromedia Flash Professional 8 authoring tool.

An alpha version of Flash Player 8.5 is available, including a new virtual machine for faster runtime and full runtime error reporting, ActionScript 3 and improved debugging. The downloads and further information can be found at http://www.macromedia.com/go/mmlabs.
