MaXXan enhances intelligent fabric storage solutions with FalconStor's IPStor 4.0 software.

MaXXan Systems, Inc., the first company to ship intelligent storage networking solutions, has announced a significant enhancement of its intelligent fabric systems with the availability of FalconStor's IPStor 4.0 software suite. MaXXan solutions enable storage on demand and provide customers with a comprehensive set of advanced storage services for disaster recovery, file serving, data protection and storage consolidation.

Today, IT users need data on demand regardless of storage mechanisms, computing platform See platform. , distance, type of connection between them and time of day. Storage networks with built-in intelligence enable IT departments to provide data on demand by easily delivering logically consolidated data and storage.

"Instead of buying a variety of systems from a number of vendors, customers are switching to this new paradigm New Paradigm

Organizations often use computers, operating systems and databases from a variety of vendors. Contrast with homogeneous environment.  as the needs grow," said Vic Mahadevan, president and chief executive officer of MaXXan Systems. "With MaXXan's intelligent fabric solutions, IT departments can serve their users the same way a utility company does: by scaling when the demand goes up."

"The combination of MaXXan's revolutionary intelligent fabric technology with the IPStor 4.0 and its centralized management tools can serve as the storage backbone of an on-demand computing See utility computing.  environment," said ReiJane Huai, chairman and chief executive officer of FalconStor Software. MaXXan's IPStor-based solutions are built on an innovative architecture that centralizes the delivery and management of storage applications from the storage network by leveraging high-performance I/O (Input/Output) The transfer of data between the CPU and a peripheral device. IPStor 4.0 incorporates a variety of new advanced storage services. A key piece of MaXXan's storage utility model is the Capacity-on-Demand agents built into IPStor 4.0. Capacity-on-Demand technology combines compression, relocation and volume expansion methods to eliminate downtime caused by low disk space conditions. IPStor 4.0 provides integrated real-time virus scanning and 56-bit data encryption data encryption, the process of scrambling stored or transmitted information so that it is unintelligible until it is unscrambled by the intended recipient. Historically, data encryption has been used primarily to protect diplomatic and military secrets from foreign , maximizing end-to-end security for replicating SAN and NAS resources over MANs and WANs.

IPStor HotZone extends the storage utility concept by generating "performance on demand." HotZone greatly increases I/O performance of mission-critical applications by transparently re-mapping the most frequently accessed data to higher performance storage devices, including solid state disks (SSDs).

to centralize backup management. IPStor BareMetal Recovery minimizes server and desktop downtime by providing an IP-based boot service that continues operations in the event of a boot disk failure from a head crash, virus infection, or data corruption. The system reboots and runs from a SAN- based disk until repair operations are complete.
