MX Logic Joins Anti-Phishing Working Group Steering Committee; CTO Scott Chasin to Speak on Email Authentication Roundtable at April 18 APWG Spring General Meeting in Chicago.

Phishing and pharming attacks use spoofed email addresses and fraudulent Web sites that hijack trusted brands of well-known banks, online retailers, Internet service providers (ISPs) and credit card companies to fool recipients into divulging personal financial data such as credit card numbers, account usernames and passwords, and Social Security numbers. During a 2005 survey by the PEW Internet & American Life Project, 35 percent of email users reported receiving unsolicited email requesting personal financial information.

Chasin will serve as an industry roundtable panelist during the APWG Spring General Meeting on April 18 in downtown Chicago's Hilton Hotel. He will discuss email authentication methods, including Sender Policy Framework (SPF), Sender ID and Domain Keys Identified Mail (DKIM), during the roundtable, "Moving Toward a Tipping Point in Email Authentication: Arbitrating the Remediation of a Global Application," scheduled from 4:15 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. CDT.
