Founded in 1977, Musicians Institute has long been recognized as one of the world's premier colleges of contemporary music; intense, hands-on degree programs designed and taught by top-notch working professional musicians are available for guitarists, bassists, percussionists A percussionist is a musician who plays a percussion instrument. Prior to that, MI professors authored books and lessons through various publishers, but none of these were sanctioned by the school. There are currently more than 100 titles in the line with more being added regularly, and combined sales have surpassed over a million units.
