MUSICIANS, PIGS TO HAM IT UP AT FAIR.

LAKE VIEW TERRACE - The San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

Valley, southern California, U.S. Northwest of central Los Angeles, the valley is bounded by the San Gabriel, Santa Susana, and Santa Monica mountains and the Simi Hills.
 Fair, to begin Thursday at the Hansen Dam Hansen Dam in Los Angeles County, California was built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Los Angeles District in 1939 and 1940. The project is located near the northern edge of the San Fernando Valley on Tujunga Wash, about one mile below the confluence of the Big Tujunga Wash  Sports Center, will feature a carnival and a variety of entertainers and animals, including the popular racing pigs.

``It's wonderful,'' said Rita Colette, who has attended the fair at Hansen Dam each year for nearly a decade and plans to take her grandchildren to the 2002 edition.

``I like everything about that fair. It's close, it's local, it's fun, and it's wholesome,'' Colette said.

She said the animals are what she likes best about the fair. She has some sheep, chickens, ducks and geese on her own home property near Hansen Dam.

The fair will run from Thursday through Sunday at the Hansen Dam Sports Center, 11770 1/2 Foothill Blvd., Lake View Terrace, and officials expect tens of thousands of visitors.

``Last year we had 23,000 visitors to the fair over the four-day period, and we're hoping we will bring in bigger crowds this year,'' said Pam Holland, a spokeswoman for the event. ``This is the 56th annual San Fernando Valley Fair.''

The fair will be open from 4 to 11 p.m. Thursday - Dollar Day, with a general admission price of $1 and free admission for children 11 and younger, military veterans and adults 55 and older.

Hours will be from 2 p.m. to midnight on Friday and from noon to midnight Saturday and Sunday.

Except on Dollar Day, admission will cost $4 for senior citizens, $6 for other adults and $4 for children 6-11. Children 5 and younger get in free every day.

Musical performances will take place on two stages.

Friday evening's featured act will be War, a rhythm and blues rhythm and blues (R&B)
