MUSIC DVDS.LOS LOBOS: ``Live at the Fillmore'' (Universal; $14.98) East L.A.'s greatest band had to go to San Francisco's Fillmore some 30 years after they started to stage their first concert on DVD DVD: see digital versatile disc. DVD in full digital video disc or digital versatile disc Type of optical disc. The DVD represents the second generation of compact-disc (CD) technology. . It was worth the wait for this terrific-sounding and well-shot disc. While nearly half the songs are from the band's last two albums - ``Good Morning Aztlan'' and ``The Ride'' - there is enough material from the past to remind us how consistently good and eclectic they are. Rock, traditional Mexican, Cajun, blues and r&b are all here as well as strange blends like ``Kiko and the Lavender Moon.'' The four original members of the band are still together - guitarists David Hidalgo David Hidalgo (born October 6 1954, Los Angeles, California) is a singer-songwriter, best known for his work with the band Los Lobos. He is also a member of the supergroup Los Super Seven and of the Latin Playboys, a side project band made up of some of the members of Los Lobos. , Cesar Rosas and Louis Perez (once the drummer) and bassist Conrad Lozano Conrad Lozano (born March 34, 1915 in Baha, Texas) is the bass player for Los Lobos. Conrad uses a Lakland Joe Osborne 4 string Bass and runs it through an Ampeg bass amp. - plus 20-year veteran Steve Berlin Steve Berlin (born 14 September 1955 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American saxophonist, keyboardist and record producer, best known as a member of the rock group Los Lobos and, before that, The Blasters. on keyboards and sax. Estrada and percussionist Victor Bisetti are also along for the concert, giving the band lots of musical firepower. In short, ``Live at the Fillmore'' is a blast. - Rob Lowman VARIOUS: ``The Old Grey Whistle Test'' (BBC Video BBC Video is a video company of the United Kingdom and United States. This video collects 28 live performances from the show, shot in clinical but engaging fashion with pristine sound to match. Peak moments are delivered by prime-time Captain Beefheart, Little Feat, Rory Gallagher, the Wailers, Emmylou Harris, U2, Talking Heads and the Specials, although we could've done without the accidentally hilarious Edgar Winter segment. The three-hour package also includes interviews with John Lennon, Elton John, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Bruce Springsteen. Producer Mike Appleton adds commentary, and all six ``Whistle Test'' hosts offer anecdotes. If there's a sequel, we'd love to see Little Feat's monumental reading of ``Long Distance Love.'' - Fred Shuster PINK FLOYD: ``Live at Pompeii (Director's Cut)'' (Universal; $19.98) This generous package stems from a 1971 ``Meddle''-era Floyd concert set in an empty 2,000-year-old amphitheater. Containing the 90-minute director's cut, plus the original hourlong midnight movie and interviews taped while the band was recording ``Dark Side of the Moon,'' the disc captures U.K. psychedelia psy·che·de·li·a n. Although some edits, like the addition of NASA NASA: see National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Picture quality is good, and extras include original posters, reviews, bootleg album covers and song lyrics. - F.S. RAY CHARLES: ``O-Genio Live in Brazil (1963)'' (Rhino; $14.99) This rare black-and-white video of two concerts Charles recorded on the eve On the Eve (Накануне in Russian) is the third novel by famous Russian writer Ivan Turgenev, best known for his short stories and the novel Fathers and Sons. of his 33rd birthday is a treasure for fans of the late singer. Backed by an orchestra that included David ``Fathead'' Newman on tenor sax and the dependable Raylettes, Charles kicks off with the ``What'd I Say'' riff, then covers most of the highlights of his career to that point - ``Hallelujah Hallelujah (hăl'əl `yə) or Alleluia (ăl–) [Heb.,=praise the Lord], joyful expression used in Hebrew worship; cf. Pss. I Love Her So,'' ``Hit the Road Jack'' and ``Moanin'.'' The first concert was a rehearsal for the second show, which was broadcast on TV, but there is only a bit of duplication in the sets. The video and sound quality of the rehearsal is superior to the concert, which is shown complete with commercials, but even that is dark and uneven at times. But there are also clips of jazz great Charlie Mingus, Luis Bunuel's ``Viridiana'' and the film ``Koyaanisqatsi.'' It makes for a weird mix at times, especially for those who may have found Mitchell's jazz-oriented period musically too adventurous. While some of the self-conscious artiness of the 13-song, hourlong film, which was directed by Mitchell, is distracting, the music is solid with her band of keyboardist Russell Ferrante, guitarist Michael Landau, Klein and drummer Vinnie Colaiuta. Highlights also include versions of ``Raised on Robbery,'' ``Woodstock'' and a poignant ``For Free'' with Mitchell at the keys. - R.L.
