Presented by the Quartz Hill Chamber of Commerce, the fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 18 on a closed-off section of 50th Street West between Avenues M and L. Among the highlights will be performance by '50s musician Jule Akins and rhythm and blues rhythm and blues (R&B)

``We're still offering the quality of a big-city event, tucked away in the peaceful, down-home setting of the town of Quartz Hill,'' said chamber president Rob Plunkett. ``Having this fair on the streets of Quartz Hill means you have plenty of room to see the attractions, get something good to eat and enjoy a family-friendly atmosphere.''

Other entertainment, such as local bands and dance groups, will be scheduled throughout the day.
