MUSEUM REOPENS.
The newly refurbished Port Gamble Historic Museum and General
Store, on Washington's northern Kitsap Peninsula The Kitsap Peninsula is an arm of land that is part of the larger Olympic Peninsula in Washington state (U.S.) that lies west of Seattle across Puget Sound. Hood Canal separates Kitsap Peninsula from the rest of the Olympic Peninsula. , has reopened. The
small museum is the centerpiece of Port Gamble, a 19th-century company
town rocked by the recent closure of its lumber lumber, term for timber that has been cut into boards for use as a building material. The major steps in producing lumber involve logging (the felling and preparation of timber for shipment to sawmills), sawing the logs into boards, grading the boards according to mill. The museum is open
